Presbyterian upset the Maroons perfect season in a big way Monday night.The cold weather seemed to suck the life
out of the Maroons as they fell 17-2 with a lackluster effort.
For the first time this
season, the Maroons lost the toss and were designated the visiting team.And it was all downhill from there.After an infield single by Weber and a
bomb by Scott, the Maroons took a 2-0 lead.However, they only managed five more hits in the entire game.
Actually, "entire game" implies
that the Maroons were able to play out the game, which is far from the
truth.FIP needed only 3 innings to
pile up 17 runs and the game was called before any Maroons could even attempt
a third at-bat.
The Maroons first loss
drops them into a tie for first place with FIP and possibly several other
teams.By virtue of their victory
tonight, FIP holds the tie-break over the Maroons.Therefore, the Maroons will need to win out and get some help
from the league to end up as the #1 seed in the playoffs.
