The Maroons let the
offense carry them into uncharted territory.22 runs were racked up in a win over Woodruff Road Presbyterian Monday
night giving the Maroons their first ever 4-0 record.
The bats started hot
(9 runs in the first) and simmered on from there.By the end of the game every Maroon had at least one hit, one
run scored, and one RBI.Doug was
particularly effective going 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI’s.He was a single away from the cycle, which
would have been a Maroons first.(Doug may have been the offensive MVP for the other team as well, but
that's another story.)
The game was in full
control until the fourth inning when WRP batted around and pulled within 2
runs at 16-14.Again, the Maroon bats
responded pounding out the final 6 runs before WRP could record an out.
With more then half of
the season gone, the Maroons find themselves alone in first place.However, there is a logjam of teams ready
to pounce if the Maroons should falter.5 teams are tied for second place with a 3-1 record including the
Maroons’ game 5 and 6 opponents (Fountain Inn Presbyterian and Sparks
Trucking, respectfully).
