The party is over.A loss to the Rockers in the semi-finals
sent the Maroons home last night without a trophy.The Maroons finished up their most successful season with a
narrow loss to the eventual Y-league champions, 11-9.The loss halted a three game winning steak
but still left the Maroons with their first ever winning season.
The Rockers did a
good job limiting the Maroons’ scoring opportunities.The Maroons used up their quota of
homeruns (Brett (2), Doug, and Scott) but they were all solo shots.The Rockers made some of their best plays
to end innings.Only one of the
Maroons’ RBIs came with two outs.
The Maroons played
pretty sold defensively as well.Willey ran down everything hit his way, including a couple of rockets
and Scott kept the Rockers unbalanced and frustrated enough to receive a
warning for the umpires for throwing their bats.
In the end, they had
one more play with the glove and the bat than the Maroons did.Hell of a lot better then 35-9, but still
not enough to get the job done.Great
