It was another gut wrenching loss for
the Maroons, who fell to Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church tonight, 10 to
4.The Maroons were let down by their
bats throughout the game, hitting 11 pop fly’s.Good defense kept the game close until walks combined with
clutch hitting by WRPC undid the Maroons in the last inning.
After being held to 3
hits in the first four innings, the bottom of the order got the only Maroons
rally started in the fifth.Thanks to
solid Maroon defense, the 4 runs scored were enough to knot the game up.The tie, however, was short lived.WRPC scored six unanswered runs in the top
of the sixth to keep pace with Hillside Baptist for the third seed and
therefore, a likely first round match with Lifespring. (WRCP currently
controls the tie breaker.)
Tonight’s lost
assures the Maroons of a first round playoff game. Unless the Maroons lose to
Lifespring by more then 14 runs, then they are in line for the 4th or 5th
seed in the playoff tournament.
