The Maroons step into rarified air as they
take a two game winning streak into the playoffs.A strong defensive game kept R & R down until Grego led off
the fourth inning with a base hit and Brett put just enough on a pop fly to
the left field to clear the fence and go up 2 to zip.R & R’s only real threat came in the
top of the fifth when they strung a few hits together and were able to tie
the game up.The Maroons were able to
stay out of the big inning by limiting the RBI batsmen to singles, keeping
the force out in play.Rob came up
big by getting in front of a hard hit ground ball and beating the runner to
third for the final out of the inning.The game was decided in the bottom of the six.With one out, Brett disrupted the turn on
a possible double play ball and the resulting error allowed Rob to get to
second.Jesse picked a good time for
his first RBI of the year when he hit a two out, two strike pitch into short
left center.Rob, hustling all the
way, scored with ease.Jesse was the
second Maroon this season to end the game with a walk-off hit. This game was
somewhat a preview of the 9:30 semi final game on June 5.Both teams, however, had regular starters
out.
