The Maroons looked
outmatched tonight against undefeated Carolina First.The Maroons employed a short fielder for
the first time this season but to no avail as Carolina First was able to put
the ball in play pretty much anywhere they wanted.The third inning was decisive.After shutting out Carolina First in the second and pulling within one
run in the top of the third, momentum was seemingly a shade of dark red.But, things are not always as they
seem.Half an inning, twelve hits,
two walks, and nine runs later, the game was out of reach.This marked the first time all season that
the game was called short due to the mercy rule.
